Irish Wolfhound Day of Health
Health Clinics
Heart Testing

The IWF is sponsoring heart testing on Thursday and Friday, May 20 and
21, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Tests offered include EKGs
(electrocardiograms), echocardiograms, (cardiac ultrasounds) and blood
pressure screening.   Dr. William D. Tyrrell, Jr. veterinary cardiologist will
perform the echocardiograms.
Reservations are necessary;
pre-registration is highly advised.
There is a 30 dog limit per testing
day.  Owners pay only $75 per dog, with the rest of the cost being paid by
the IWF.  A normal veterinary screening of this nature costs upward of
$400, so please take advantage of this special opportunity to get your
dogs tested.   All Irish Wolfhounds two years of age and older are eligible.

The IWF began offering echocardiographic screening clinics in St. Louis
5 years ago. Veterinary cardiologists Dr. Henry Green and Dr. William D.
Tyrrell, Jr., are compiling results comparing data from each dog's EKG to
its echocardiogram, and evaluating the accuracy of using EKGs as a
screening tool for heart disease in the Irish Wolfhound.  The data from
this study will also be used to compare health data for wolfhounds in the
USA to previously published studies of wolfhounds in Europe.

Testing will take place in a quiet building directly adjacent to the show
ring and setup area making it easy to step away for a moment.  While we
cannot guarantee your specific schedule, we will do our best to
accommodate day/time slot requests.  Please click
here for registration
and payment information.  Please note that registration checks must be
made to Irish Wolfhound Foundation ("IWF") per the instructions linked
above.

We are pleased to also be offering on site CERF testing conducted by
Dr David Lipton.  Dr. Lipton will be on the grounds on Thursday, May 21
from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM conducting testing.  The cost is $30 per dog.
Pre-registration is strongly suggested.   Please click
